While the term “teacup” really has no meaning in the Yorkshire Terrier Standard, here at Classic Yorkies we appreciate the very small Yorkie as a family pet and try to breed puppies on the smaller side. If you have your heart set on one of the tiny ones, please make sure that you are prepared to provide the constant care that one so small requires! Breeding Yorkies that weigh under five pounds is not safe and we will discourage anyone from doing so. New owners are provided with full registration but we strongly advise against breeding your Yorkie.
Predicting the adult size of a Yorkie puppy is just an estimate, despite what some will tell you. The ancestors of both the dam and the stud will have an influence on the size of the offspring and there might be both very small and standard sized puppies in any given litter. We never guarantee the adult size of our puppies but will attempt to give you a reasonable estimate based on our experience. Normally, a puppy will double his weight at twelve weeks by adulthood.
A litter of Yorkie puppies takes a lot of planning, special care of the pregnant bitch, close monitoring and possible intervention at whelping time, and constant care and attention to the new litter from birth to weaning. It's an intense "labor of love," requiring time, money, and care to reach the goal of a healthy, happy, well socialized puppy.
Our puppies are priced according to many factors including genetics, size and overall appearance. The smallest of our puppies require special attention and are therefore priced accordingly.
The purchase price of the puppies must be paid by cash, cashier's check, money order, or bank wire transfer. I no longer accept personal checks and appreciate your understanding of this policy.
Please make sure that you have chosen the puppy that you really want. I will be happy to answer any questions that you might have and will try to help you choose the right puppy for you.
Puppies are never allowed to leave our care until they are ten weeks old. If a puppy reaches ten weeks and still weighs under one pound, it must remain here until it reaches a weight that we consider safe to travel to a new home.
We will be happy to ship your puppy if we consider it to be old enough/big enough to travel and weather permitting. We use both air and ground transport to deliver puppies. Shipping prices will be determined based on the destination. On occasion, we will personally deliver a puppy within three hours of Austin, Texas, and will charge a delivery fee of $50. We prefer to meet the buyers and to deliver the puppy or have it picked up at our kennel; however, there are safe methods of shipping and we will be happy to discuss these options with you.
